Run the Scenic Wonder of Setouchi: Discover Kudamatsu Kasadojima Island Trail

Welcome to the Wonder Trail Across Seto Inland Sea: Kudamatsu Kasadojima Island Trail

Floating in the tranquil waters of the Seto Inland Sea lies Kasado Island, part of the scenic national park and a natural playground for trail runners. Nicknamed the "Island of Seven Coves and Seven Capes," the island provides a beautiful backdrop for the Kudamatsu Kasado Island Trail, Kudamatsu's signature sports festival, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2025.

Every February, nearly 1,000 participants from all over Japan gather here to experience this one-of-a-kind coastal trail adventure.

Where Mountains Meet Industry: An Ever-Changing Landscape

What makes this event truly unique is its diverse and dramatic course design. From climbing peaks like Mt. Suribachi and Mt. Takotsubo (over 200m in elevation), to running along floating sea boardwalks, the course keeps runners engaged with every step.

Suddenly, massive shipyards appear on the horizon, then the route winds into sections resembling a dinosaur’s mouth!? This ever-changing terrain blends natural beauty and industrial spectacle in ways that surprise and delight runners.
The full trail spans 30km with 1,660m of elevation gain, offering an ideal challenge for seasoned athletes.

  • Long Course: 30km / 400 participants

  • Short Course: 17km / 300 participants

  • Relay Course: 30km (teams of 3) / 20 teams

More Than a Run: A Cultural Encounter

Along the way, runners are greeted with local support, community smiles, and refreshing citrus drinks served at aid stations. It’s not just a race—it’s a celebration of human connection and regional pride.
The authenticity of local hospitality combined with untouched nature transforms this trail run into a journey for the soul.

A Trail That Connects People, Nature, and Place

The Kudamatsu Kasadojima Island Trail is more than an event—it’s a movement toward sustainable tourism and regional revitalization. By showcasing the unique beauty of this Seto Inland Sea island, it aims to expand cultural exchange and deepen community ties.

If you’re seeking a trail that’s more than just miles, come run through stories, smiles, and landscapes you’ll never forget.
