Tanegashima : The island is home to Japan's largest space rocket launch site

Tanegashima Island is located in the eastern part of Kagoshima Prefecture. It is known as the place where guns were introduced by the Portuguese. It is also famous for the JAXA Tanegashima Space Centre, the largest space rocket launch site in Japan. It is an attractive tourist destination with rich nature, historical spots and many traditions.

There are many beautiful shallow beaches where marine sports can be enjoyed all year round, such as diving and sea kayaking, and many excellent surfing points where the rough waves of the Pacific Ocean break on the shore. Activities such as yoga and paragliding are also available.

ASA offers tours of Kyushu's famous places of interest, including Tanegashima, as well as experiences in hidden places known only to the Japanese. Please feel free to contact us with any inquiries.
