Sakurajima, considered the symbol of Kagoshima, is a rare composite volcano formed by the merging of its northern and southern peaks, which continues to emit smoke and shower ash, making it a globally unique volcano.

At the Sakurajima Visitor Center near Sakurajima Port, visitors can learn about everything related to Sakurajima, including the historical major eruptions and changes in its geography.

A 15-minute ferry ride from Kagoshima Port to Sakurajima builds anticipation as you gradually approach the imposing figure of Sakurajima, while enjoying the famous udon noodles.
