"Embracing Warmth and Tradition: The Art of Making Oyaki in Nagano".

The hands-on experience of crafting "Oyaki" merges the joy of manually shaping and filling the dough with the rustic warmth of cooking over an irori (traditional Japanese hearth). This process not only enhances the culinary delight but also deeply connects one to the traditional ways, culminating in a delectable contrast of crispy outer skin and richly flavored fillings that vividly highlight the essence of Nagano's comfort food.

Ogawa Village is located at the foot of the Northern Alps in northern Nagano Prefecture. A picturesque and quiet rural village with the beautiful Northern Alps in the background.

Oyaki Village is located on a mountain pass called Kukihongo-no-mine overlooking the village.

You can try your hand at making oyaki in a hearth house modeled after a pit dwelling from the Jomon period, or enjoy handmade soba noodles and a lunch menu in a kotatsu room.

The moment when the fabric and the heart become one.

I had a wonderful experience at a place where old traditional techniques and a warm heart intersect. It was a heart-warming ``oyaki making experience'' where you could enjoy the good old Japanese taste by hand.

Look everyone! This is the secret to making delicious oyaki!

There are plenty of ingredients in the video!

You need to get used to stuffing the ingredients while stretching the skin.

A blissful time waiting in the warmth of the hearth.

Once the experience begins, you will receive careful guidance from the craftsman. Take the dough and roll it into a ball. The warmth you feel in your hands and the softness of the fabric will gently envelop your heart. It takes about 10 minutes to bake, and during that time you sit around the hearth and wait. Waiting time is a luxurious time where time passes slowly. The warmth of the hearth will warm your heart.

And then the long-awaited moment arrives. Once the grilled food is cooked, it will appear in front of you, emitting soft heat.

The moment you take a bite, the sweetness and chewy texture spread in your mouth. The slightly browned color adds depth to the flavor.
