Yoshinogari Site : Explore ancient ruins while experiencing the Yayoi period firsthand through valuable experiential programs.

Yoshinogari Site is a relic of a Yayoi period circular moat settlement located in Saga Prefecture, boasting the largest scale among Yayoi period sites in the country. This valuable archaeological site provides insights into the changes spanning a long period from the 3rd century BCE to the 3rd century CE.

Discoveries at the site include remains of dwellings, elevated floor warehouses, tombs, bronze swords, and cylindrical beads, contributing numerous crucial pieces of information for unraveling history.

Currently, the Yoshinogari Site has been developed into the National Yoshinogari Historical Park, featuring exhibits of excavated artifacts and reconstructed residential areas. Visitors can experience and learn about the transition from Yayoi period villages to states (kuni). Various experiential programs such as making magatama (comma-shaped beads), crafting clay flutes, fire starting, and musical instrument performances are also available for enjoyment.

Furthermore, during the six days of the "Hikari no Hibiki" (Sound of Light) event held on weekends in December, thousands of candle-lit paper lanterns are arranged, creating a fantastical and enchanting spectacle.
