The birth of the "Wasshoi Hyakuman Summer Festival"

This citizen-participation festival was created to mark the 25th anniversary of Kitakyushu's municipal incorporation (1988) with the aim of unifying citizen consciousness, revitalizing the city, and improving its image.

When it was first held, it was planned as a one-time event, but due to the overwhelming response it received it has continued to this day, with this year marking its 37th anniversary.

Today, it has become a staple of the summer in Kitakyushu, and during the festival period, approximately 15,000 participants gather, with spectators from inside and outside the city filling the streets, making it a huge and lively festival.

A grand joint event featuring the Yamakasa and floats that the seven wards of Kitakyushu City are proud of. Experience the power and excitement of the many heroic and magnificent festivals.
