Hitsujiyama Park

Discover Chichibu’s Beloved Spring Icon

Tucked away in the scenic town of Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture, Hitsujiyama Park bursts into color each spring with one of Japan’s most breathtaking floral displays. From mid-April to early May, the park’s gently sloping hills transform into a vibrant carpet of Shibazakura (moss phlox).

Covering an area of about 17,600 square meters, more than 400,000 plants from 10 varieties bloom in a dreamy mix of pink, white, and soft blue. Towering behind this floral masterpiece is Mount Bukō, creating a stunning natural backdrop and a perfect setting for unforgettable photos.

More Than Just Flowers: Nature for Every Season

While spring is the star season, Hitsujiyama Park’s beauty spans the entire year. With walking paths, wide-open lawns, and peaceful viewpoints, the park offers a refreshing escape in all seasons—from lush greenery in early summer to the quiet charm of winter. It's an ideal place to relax, take in the scenery, and feel the rhythm of nature.

Tranquil Encounters at the Mini Pasture

Within the park is a small pasture, home to a few sheep that gently graze in the open air. While visitors can’t touch the animals, simply watching them adds a calm, rural charm to your stroll through the park—perfect for families and photographers looking for that heartwarming shot.

A Taste of Chichibu: Local Delights at the Spring Market

During the Shibazakura season, the park also hosts a local fair where you can discover the flavors and craftsmanship of Chichibu. Try regional favorites like miso potatoes and waraji katsu (sandal-sized cutlets), or browse through handmade goods and seasonal produce. It’s a feast for all your senses—blossoms, food, culture, and the warmth of the local community.

Easy Access for a Perfect Day Trip

Hitsujiyama Park is just a short walk from Seibu-Chichibu Station, making it easily accessible for travelers.
With direct train routes from Tokyo taking around two hours, it’s a great option for a scenic and relaxing day trip.

Whether it’s the stunning view of Mount Buko from the moss phlox hill, a peaceful walk through the park’s seasonal scenery, or the warm, rustic charm of Chichibu itself,
Hitsujiyama Park offers a memorable escape where flowers, nature, and local life come together in perfect harmony.
