See this content in the original post

"Takegawara Onsen" is a communal bath located in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture. It is situated in the bustling entertainment district, about a 10-minute walk from the east exit of Beppu Station, where snack bars and izakayas (Japanese pubs) are clustered. Amidst the streets adorned with flashy electric signs, Takegawara Onsen retains a nostalgic atmosphere, as if it were a piece of the past isolated in that location. Established in 1879, this famous hot spring with a long history is always bustling with numerous tourists.

Takegawara Onsen is known for its hot water, with different water qualities for men's and women's baths. Additionally, visitors can experience sand bathing here. Wearing a yukata (casual summer kimono), one can be steamed in the warm sand heated by the hot spring for about 15 minutes. It leaves you with a refreshing sensation as if all the waste materials in your body have been completely expelled. The lounge with antique clocks ticking slowly offers a nostalgic space, making you feel as if you've slipped back in time to a distant past.
