This time, we would like to introduce ASA's custom tour, traveling from Shimabara to Minamiaso Village and Amakusa.
Shimabara Peninsula is located in the southeast part of Nagasaki Prefecture. The town retains the atmosphere of the old castle town with attractions like Shimabara Castle and samurai residences. Visitors can enjoy beautiful landscapes overlooking Mount Unzen, the Ariake Sea, as well as pristine spring water and hot springs selected as one of the "100 Famous Waters." This tour includes the experience of hand-stretched somen noodles.
Minamiaso Village is situated in the northeastern part of Kumamoto Prefecture, to the south of Mount Aso. The Minamiaso Railway offers breathtaking views from its tourist train operating from spring to autumn. The "Sunny Train," a train inspired by the Thousand Sunny from the manga "ONE PIECE," is currently in operation, providing passengers with a unique experience.
Amakusa City is located in the southwestern part of Kumamoto Prefecture, strongly influenced by Christianity. It is known for being the residence of many Christians, including Amakusa Shirō. The village of Sakitsu, in particular, is recognized as a settlement where Buddhism and Christianity coexisted, registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site. In this tour, participants can experience dolphin watching. Approximately 300 dolphins inhabit the waters off the coast of Amakusa Gokyo, known for their friendly nature as they approach boats without fear.
